Jetstar Airways Flight Recovery: A Visual Guide of Self-Service Credit Voucher Request

Hey there mates! How are you holding up? How’s your 2020 so far, travel-wise? Well, if you ask me, my 2020 could have been my travel breakthrough outside Asia if it weren’t for the existence of an unprecedented global health crisis. As an avid traveler on a budget, I consequently booked numerous international flights last 2019 during seat sale promos of various airline companies around the world. I was very thrilled to have scored cheap flights then, but today it turned out to be a nightmare.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned during the quarantine period, it would be the exposure of the best and worst travel companies with respect to the cancellation policies brought about by the pandemic. I learned this the hard way. I have a total of 20 flights that were cancelled this 2020 (at least as of writing) and the dilemma of processing each one for reimbursement varies in great length. I’ve successfully tried Travel Fund and Refund from Cebu Pacific Air, hustled through online chat with Trip.com‘s representative and AVA chatbot of AirAsia only to be disconnected every time, happy with the fast processing and crediting of refund by Peach Aviation and now, the exact opposite, the non-availability of refund option by Jetstar Airways.

It’s actually my first time to book from Jetstar Airways for our trip to Melbourne from Sydney, Australia. However, I didn’t expect I won’t be receiving any reimbursement in the original form of payment, because it isn’t an option to begin with. I wonder how they call it as one of the recovery options when the only choice is only a credit voucher. A travel voucher credited to your Jetstar account which might not be utilized anytime soon due to the unpredictability of the situation. Or did I miss something? Well, I’ve read a lot of complaints from Jetstar guests all over the world and as much as I wanted to rant about my frustration with its poor customer service, I’m partially comforted by the website’s aesthetics. No thanks heaps!

So, if we’re on the same boat, this article could help you. Here’s a step by step visual guide on how to request for a credit voucher of your affected Jetstar flight booking. (P.S. It’s kinda longggggg!)

With the above step by step guide, I can say that this is the longest procedure I’ve experienced among the flight recovery self-service request I’ve processed so far. Totally devo! But nonetheless, I’m glad that I have now with me the credit voucher in less than 24 hours from such request (13 days earlier than promised).

My would-be maiden flight to Australia might be cancelled, but I’m looking forward to tick Aussie dreams off my bucketlist when the time is right. I know she’ll be apples!
