Taguilon Floating Cottage: Amusing Aqua Adventure in Dapitan
I just survived my 14-day quarantine in Dipolog City as part of the mandatory procedure for returning residents of the province and the first thing I did was to plan a getaway with my family. My niece straight away recommended the floating cottages in Taguilon, Dapitan City and everyone agreed. Although my family already experienced Taguilon Floating Cottage few years back, they had no problem in giving it another go since they really want me to experience an amusing aqua adventure not far from home.
Taguilon Floating cottage is one of the popular destinations in Zamboanga del Norte’s Dapitan City and its twin neighboring city, Dipolog. It is a floating cottage rental, in whatever occasion you are celebrating, where you can have fun while enjoying the company of your loved ones and view of the mountainscape and seascape.

So, the plan to achieve Taguilon Floating Cottage adventure happened overnight. The next day, all roads lead to Dapitan City. Upon arrival in the area, we registered at the entrance near the parking lot and we were given a cottage number and dedicated boat for us to transfer from port to the cottage.
While waiting for our boat to arrive, we gathered around the beach and took some groufies, our first group photo together during my stay in Dipolog. As you can see in the background, the beach is not white. Nonetheless, the main attraction is not really on the beach, but few kilometers away from the beachfront.
While carrying your things, you have to walk a long pathway made of floating bamboos. I’m not sure if it’s really stable (sometimes it’s a little waggly) but be sure to be careful on your way to the waiting area.
We took a boat ride going to our rented cottage. The watercraft assigned to us was pretty normal, not so big and not so small. It was enough to hold more than ten people and that’s the most important part. You don’t need to worry about seasickness, the calm sea journey took less than ten minutes.
There are a lot of cottages to choose from. They are located few kilometers from each other. Each cottage comes in various sizes and styles and have different rates, as well as offerings. The rental fee of our cottage was Php 2,000, including boat transfers.
Whatever floating cottage you choose, you will surely have a fun and great moment with your family and friends. Here are some of the amusing aqua adventure to enjoy in Taguilon Floating Cottage.
Inflatable Banana Boating
Float like there’s no tomorrow with the inflatable banana boat. Lounge under the sun or just chillax in the serene sea with this cool tool, you’ll never run out of memories to cherish.
Fishing
You may do fishing awhile aboard the floating cottage. As cliche as it seems, you don’t need a fishing gear, just have to bring the classic fishing nylon with a hook.

Floating Cottage Hopping
This would be wrong at first glance but when the nearby floating cottage is empty and you know how to swim, then it’s totally okay to hop from one floating cottage to another and just have fun exploring other cottages. Just make sure not to disturb those who are occupying one.
Banana Boat Riding
If you want some thrilling water adventure, then try the banana boat ride. The fee per person is Php 100 for a maximum of 6 persons. There is a life vest included in the package.
Make sure to hold on tight as the banana boat ride takes you around Taguilon Bay as fast as 30kph on a 15-minute adventure.
Edging
Pose and take your selfie while edging on the floating cottage. Ensure to shoot on portrait mode for some beautiful bokeh effects.
Swimming
Taguilon Bay is your playground, go swim! If you don’t know how to swim, life vest can help you stay afloat.
Aqua Sliding
Each floating cottage has its own water slide installed on the corner. Your floating cottage experience would not be complete if you won’t splash your way to the waters thru aqua sliding.
Sheltered Swimming Pool
You can have a peace of mind when you swim in this area. There are nets that ensures your safety while enjoying in the sheltered swimming pool.
Cottage Jumping
When you’ve done almost everything you can possibly can, why not just jump out from the floating cottage to have some fun?
After all those adrenaline pumping activities while in Taguilon Floating Cottage, you need to refuel your aching muscles by eating the food you brought and prepared on board or even munch some snacks.
We even grilled some oysters (talaba), fish and corns for our lunch.
In conclusion, I really had a blast at Taguilon Floating Cottage with its amusing aqua adventure. We had the best day of our lives, I supposed. ’til next adventure guys!
